Memphis Zoo is pleased to invite qualified candidates to join its veterinarian internship program in Memphis; TN. The veterinarian intern position is a full-time role that regularly requires weekend work.

The program is an educational experience developed to immerse students in all aspects of medical and daily care for the zoo‡s entire animal collection, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and aquatic species.

During this internship, you will gain experience by performing several duties like performing necropsies, maintaining complete medical records, communicating with staff in all departments, and working effectively with the zoo hospital team.

Spending your time as an intern at the zoo will help you build new skills set and experience and will provide you knowledge of running events, team building, interacting with the public and how to handle animals.

Memphis Zoo, founded in 1906, is a famous zoo located in Memphis, Tennessee. It has a diverse collection of over 4,000 animals of 400 species. In 2018, according to a survey of TripAdvisor.com, it was America‡s number one zoo and in a survey by Morey Associates, it was rated as the top zoo in the country.

This internship will secure a venue in Memphis, TN.

The program is scheduled to last up to 1 year.

Eligibility Requirements:

To acquire this opportunity, all you need to fulfill the given criteria:

  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from an AVMA-accredited institution
  • Successful completion of the national board examination
  • State of Tennessee veterinary medical license
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office and medical record-keeping software
  • Problem Solving/Analysis
  • Teamwork Orientated
