New England Aquarium has an excellent 12 weeks long Development and Grant Writing Internship for both spring and summer season of 2021. It is a big chance for those who are interested in obtaining experience in institutional fundraising in a nonprofit or museum setting.

The primary focus of this program is grant-writing and fundraising through foundations and government agencies as well as teaches interns how a nonprofit raises revenue to support its mission.

The program is seeking independent, detail-oriented and organized candidates with strong writing and communication skills. Both college students and recent graduates are welcome to apply.

The New England Aquarium is a public aquarium based in Boston, Massachusetts. It is among premier visitor attractions in Boston, with over 1.3 million visitors a year, and a major public education resource.

Internship Location:

You will work at New England Aquarium‡s headquarters based in Boston, MA.

Internship Duration:

This is 12 weeks long role that requires 10-16 hours per week commitment.

Internship Benefits:

This internship is unpaid however intern will be compensated through hands-on experience, networking connections, and a unique learning environment. They have also other benefits, like free aquarium membership, and college credit.

Eligibility Requirements:

You will be the right fit for this role if you meet the given eligibility criteria:

  • Must be a college student or recent graduate
  • Must have an interest in learning about grant-writing
  • Must have confidence interacting with staff at a variety of levels, as well as donors
  • Must be an independent self-starter
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills
  • Must be highly attentive to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs necessary
