Harper’s Magazine Art Internship

Harper‡s Magazine is now encouraging candidates who have a strong interest in art to send their applications for its wonderful Art Internship. The program is a part-time internship that will span three to five months.

As a part of this opportunity, you can acquire practical experience in electronic page layout, color separation, art and photo research, working with freelancers, by workings at the art department of a national magazine.

It is a well-suited role for those who are graduate and undergraduate students or recently out of school. The position is also great for freelance graphic designers or illustrators looking to gain experience by working in a magazine environment.

Harper’s Magazine is the oldest monthly magazine of literature, politics, culture, finance, and the arts in America. It was launched in 1850 and has won 22 national magazine awards. Through long-form narrative journalism and essays, it explores the issues that drive national conversation.

Internship Location:

The internship will secure a place in New York, NY.

Internship Duration:

The duration of this program is approximately 3 to 5 months.

Internship Benefits:

This is an unpaid program however interns will be compensated through flexible hours, training, networking opportunities, guidance, company events, and other benefits.

Eligibility Requirements:

How to Apply:

It is required that all interested candidates must send a cover letter, in the form of a personal statement of no more than 500 words, explaining why you would like to take part in the internship program and describing yourself and your interests, concerns, and ideas.

They should include a resume and the names and phone numbers of at least two references. They will be asked to complete the enclosed assignment.

Resumes and cover letters will not be acknowledged unless they come with a completed assignment. Interviews for finalists will be set up after the above materials are received.
