Legal Aid Society is in search of bright and self-motivated interns for its legal team based in New York, NY. Legal internship of the Legal Aid Society is an opportunity for law students to develop skills and gain experience while serving indigent New Yorkers.

This a part-time non-paying position in which you will perform several tasks such as legal research, writing, factual investigation, client interviewing, monitoring legislative developments, attending coalition and legislative sessions, and drafting testimony or position papers.

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify for this program, you need to have the following skills and qualification:

  • 1Ls and 2Ls are eligible to apply for the summer 2020 term
  • Commitment to child welfare and juvenile justice issues
  • Ability to deal effectively with children, adolescents, and family members
  • Demonstrated commitment and interest in serving racially and socioeconomically oppressed communities
