Group/Division

KLA has always had a close relationship with physics and data. Our optical and electron beam inspection and measurement tools use cutting edge physics models, both for hardware design and as part of their algorithms. AI, including several traditional machine learning techniques and deep learning are routinely used to process this data to meet application requirements. The AI & Modeling Center of Excellence was setup with the mission of advancing KLA‡s traditional strengths in physics and data and providing implementation solutions for multiple KLA Inspection and Metrology products targeted at the semiconductor manufacturing industry. The AI & Modeling Center of Excellence is part of the company‡s Central Engineering organization providing product development expertise in a critical area for a wide variety KLA products. As a part of this group, you will be part of a world class team of physicists, HPC system designers, machine learning and application engineers who build cutting edge solutions for modeling complex imaging techniques and semiconductor processes. You will also work with a data scientists and AI infrastructure engineers whose mission is to build and scale machine learning based solutions for our semiconductor customers. We are looking for engineers in a few different fields. If you are passionate about Physics Modeling, High Performance Computing – HPC (including GPU), Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Sciences, or cutting-edge Cloud technologies – this is the place for you!

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for an internship candidate for summer 2023 (or summer 2024) OR part-time in the Fall, who is passionate on Machine Learning and Deep Learning research for image processing and computer vision applications. The ideal candidate is expected to have strong background on image processing algorithms, and also deep understanding on Machine Learning and Deep Learning theory.

The possible tasks that the candidate will be working on includes, but not limited to:

Understand and derive the algorithm from latest literatures and/or conferences.
Implement the state-of-art Machine Learning/Deep Learning models.
Design and/or Improve models for a specific application.
Design new Deep Learning modules.
Optimize and tune a Deep Learning Model.
Evaluate and validate the performance of deep learning models.
Perform A/B Test between models.
Tackle physical problems via machine learning or deep learning.
Communicate idea/finding to team members.
Qualifications/Education Desired

PhD (strongly preferred) OR Master’s Level Degree candidate graduating in one year, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics or related quantitative fields.
Machine Learning/Deep Learning publication is required.
Experience on ML/DL Foundation modeling is required.
Research or industrial experience on applying Machine Learning/Deep Learning on real problems.
Experience in designing, validating and testing complex learning models.
Proficiency in Python; familiar with Deep Learning framework (e.g., TensorFlow, Caffe, PyTorch, etc).
Minimum Qualifications

Students working towards a PhD (preferred) or MS Level Degree.
