Arthrex Manufacturing Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. The Sutures Quality Engineering team in Ave Maria, FL (AMIE) is responsible for supporting all Quality activities and development of suture‡s test methods. We are searching for a intern pursuing an Industrial, Textile or Biomedical Engineering degree to support the Quality Engineering team at AMIE. The successful candidate will handle, cost reduction or process improvement projects, prepare, execute, and document validations, engineering studies, non-conformance dispositions and evaluations with guidance from the quality engineering staff. The individual could be also performing different test methods (Pick Count, Knot Pull, Diameter Width, etc.) and will be detail oriented in the execution and documentation of these test methods. The individual will also work within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner.

This internship will run from May 2024 – August 2024. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Ave Maria, FL facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Multicolor Suture Inspection Calculation to be transferred to Iplan.
Dye Extraction Remediation.
Knot Glue Detection Improvement.
Yarn testing (Color and Dye) Gage R&R.
Hand held color measurement tool.
This is an in-office position located in Ave Maria, FL; it is not a remote position.

Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in a related field required, preferably in Industrial, Textile or Biomedical Engineering. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Knowledge of testing equipment, statistical methods, control plans.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
