What you can expect in this role 

As a Spectrum Intern, you‡ll be essential to two teams — your respective department and your Intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You‡ll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on May 29th, webinars, community service, cross-functional project, and final presentations.

The Application Developer in Database Marketing plays an important role in designing, developing, and maintaining Marketing applications that underpin the efforts of the organization. This position combines technical expertise in application solution and programming (e.g., Microsoft C#, Java, Python, SQL) with a good understanding of Oracle database management to ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis, thereby enabling data-driven Marketing strategies.

Job Duties:

• Data Modeling: Designing and implementing data models to support marketing initiatives, including customer segmentation, targeting, and personalization.

• Data Analysis: Performing basic data analysis and generating reports to help marketing teams make informed decisions.

• Data Integration: Integrating and synchronizing marketing databases with other systems and data sources for seamless data flow.

• Data Cleansing: Identifying and rectifying data errors, inconsistencies, and duplicates in the database.

• Application Development: Designing, developing, and maintaining database systems using application programming and SQL for marketing data storage and retrieval.

• Research: Conducting research to gather additional data for the marketing database, such as industry trends or competitor information.

• API Integration: Developing and maintaining APIs to facilitate data transfer between marketing systems and applications.

• Innovation: Suggesting improvements or new data-driven strategies to enhance marketing efforts.

• Collaboration: Collaborating with other team members to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.

• Version Control: Using version control systems to manage code changes and collaborate with other developers effectively.

• Testing: Conducting thorough testing of applications to ensure reliability and data accuracy.

• Documentation: Creating and maintaining documentation related to application processes and procedures.

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a Bachelor‡s Degree or Advanced Degree
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
  • Ability to travel locally to Spectrum Intern development events and activities throughout the program
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship
