Apple HBCU Scholars Program

Overview

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) in partnership with Apple is proud to present the Apple HBCU Scholars Program. Applications are now open to outstanding students attending HBCUs with a minimum 3.0 GPA who will be graduating between December 2021 and May 2021. Eligible students should be currently working towards a degree in an undergraduate, Masters, or Ph.D. program. Selected Scholars will participate in a 12-week internship during the summer of 2021, and will receive up to $25,000 in need-based funding that will be applied to the academic year immediately following their internship period. Each scholar will have an Apple mentor throughout their experience, receive an opportunity to develop key skills, enhance their resumes, and help launch their careers through the hands-on experience gained at one of the top tech companies in the world.

These scholars will have the opportunity to:

Participate in an Apple HBCU Immersion experience in Cupertino, California in January 2021
Participate in a 12-week internship with Apple in Cupertino, California in the summer of 2021
Be awarded a need-based scholarship to help defray the costs (e.g., tuition, mandatory fees, room and board, books and supplies) of attendance

Participate in various leadership development activities to help prepare for post-graduation careers
Receive on-going coaching and guidance from an experienced Apple employee

Serve as Ambassadors on their HBCU campuses to build awareness for the Apple and TMCF HBCU Initiative
Program Criteria

Enrolled full-time at a four-year accredited HBCU

Graduating between December 2021 and May 2021 (e.g., graduate students, or undergraduate sophomores, juniors, or seniors pursuing a fifth year of study.)

Prior internship, leadership, and/or team projects experience is preferred

Scholar Expectations (including, but not limited to the following)

Must be able to participate in all program-related activities
Willing and able to spend 12 weeks in Cupertino, California during the summer months of May through August
Must remain in good academic standing
Must not have any disciplinary infractions on academic record
Able to successfully complete all program requirements
Utilize Apple technology (e.g., MacBook, iPhone, etc.)
Serve as post-internship Apple Ambassadors
Students selected to participate in the program must provide TMCF with supporting documentation requested during the financial need verification process
