The LAEP Intern is responsible for performing research-related tasks that support the research of the supervising faculty member. The intern may also perform administrative tasks that contribute to the faculty member‡s research. Administrative tasks will be limited to no more than 49% of hours worked. The LAEP Scholar will work under the direct supervision of the faculty member. The goal of the internship is to provide students with an opportunity to learn research skills and to engage in research that is directly related to the intern‡s area of study and/or academic interests. The supervising faculty is responsible for providing ongoing feedback to the intern.

The supervising faculty determines the research goals of the internship and the research activities that the LAEP Scholar will perform. The faculty member for this internship anticipates the LAEP Scholar will be engaged in the following research activities:
Conducting basic science research (life science, physical science, engineering) or research and development (R&D); Interacting with study participants (e.g., schedule participant‡s study visit, run study visit, answer participant questions); Training and helping supervise research assistants
