About the team 

The Autobidder Algorithms team develops and maintains the algorithms codebase for Autobidder, an algorithmic trading platform that automates electricity market participation of grid-connected energy storage assets and aggregated virtual power plants.
What You‡ll DoImproving wholesale electricity price forecasting algorithms used in automated bidding workflows for battery assets

Modeling risk-reward tradeoffs, effects of bid quantity on clearing price, risk aware day-ahead vs. real-time quantity allocation, etc. in automated bidding algorithms

Improving accuracy of benchmarks for performance of automated bidding algorithms and developing novel metrics to track performance

Implementing production-level algorithms; testing and documentation; communicating progress, requirements and results
What You‡ll BringCurrently working towards a graduate degree in a relevant program such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research, Data Science, or similar with a focus on Power and Energy Systems
Experience with machine learning, time-series forecasting, numerical optimization such as linear and mixed integer programming, optimal control, model predictive control, stochastic optimization, and computational finance
Strong engineering fundamentals and intuition, applied to firmware and software-enabled systems
Practical experience with programming languages such as SQL or Python
A bias for action and a passion for sustainable energy and electric vehicles
Remain engaged, proactive, and positive while solving very challenging problems
Knowledge of and experience with electricity markets preferred
Familiarity with software development practices and experience writing production quality code

Expected Compensation

$37.26 – $52.00 + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
