Job Description

Vigil Enterprises, Inc. is recruiting for an Intern Architect.

This role will support the Sr. Project Manager and Design Team on the design, acquisition and construction of numerous modifications to existing facilities on a federal installation. Position will assist in the responsibilities for managing and designing projects from inception to completion; including initial scoping requirements, design, construction acquisition, coordinating construction operations, as-built records and tracking. Position will also be responsible for coordinating funding with federal client for design and construction. Position must request and receive assistance when work is new or unfamiliar. Position will also be responsible for other duties as assigned.

All work must be performed at our office. No offsite work.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to support Lead Architect and Project Manager.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Accomplishes tasks by understanding all aspects of the job and manages workload or completes tasks in a timely manner.
All designs are reviewed by client subject matter experts. Organization, resolution, and ensuring incorporation of comments as negotiated during design and construction is essential. Ability to work well with reviewers is a necessity. Coordination within architectural discipline and with other disciplines is routine.
Deliver outstanding client service through timely response and proactive solutions.
Demonstrates strong collaboration skills in working with the multiple disciplines and product suppliers to fully understand product installation requirements and performance. characteristics in order to provide project details.
Developed business etiquette.
Effective communication skills by means of clear writing, communicating, or presenting.
Must have system furniture design experience including Steelcase and/or Haworth systems furniture.
Recognize responsibilities to the company and applies effective work habits and approaches to meet work requirements. A willingness to see a project through meeting project due dates.
Review and evaluate deliverables, identify, and resolve technical/construction issues.
Strong project skills and ability to relate and communicate with clients, subcontractors, co-workers, and project construction team.
Sustainable Design a must, LEED certification a plus.
Understanding of civil, structural and MEP systems to coordinate their scope of work with all the other building components.
Understanding of how building materials are assembled.
Works well with customers under tight deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a U.S. citizen. This is non-negotiable.
Must have system furniture design experience including Steelcase and/or Haworth systems furniture.
Sustainable Design a must, LEED certification a plus.
DOE and DOD design standards and applicable design codes and standards experience a plus.
Demonstrates strong collaboration skills in working with the multiple disciplines and product suppliers to fully understand product installation requirements and performance. characteristics in order to provide project details.
Must have Bentley Microstation v8i and Autodesk AutoCAD (recent version) experience.
3+ years of design experience preferred.
Must be client-oriented.
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
Must be customer-oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills a must.
Passion for being detail oriented and highly organized.
Must have familiarity with IBC and IEBC requirements.
Must be able to work efficiently in multi-discipline teams on a variety of project types.
Will perform conventional construction document production with multi-discipline coordination.
Will provide support through construction on some projects.
Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests.
Must be able to pass a background check.
