The San Diego Padres are pleased to announce its intern program for college and graduate students for the 2020 season. This is an extraordinary opportunity to gain hands-on experience and to learn from best-in-class talent at a first-class organization.
Duties & Responsibilities: These vary depending upon the department in which the intern is working for, but interns can expect to do tasks such as:
Assist in the planning for Padres Homestands and non-game day special events.
Help with overseeing Promotional Giveaways and/or promotional acts’ needs.
Provide Ticket Operations with game day support for box office management.
Assist with Club charitable giving efforts.
Shadow multiple office positions and train in a variety of tasks.
Assist with filing and organizational needs of assigned department.
Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements: We encourage college and graduate students to apply if they meet the following requirements:
Must be at least eighteen years old.
Must have just completed their undergraduate Sophomore or Junior years of college by Spring 2020 OR are currently enrolled in a Graduate program.
Have a passion for sports.
Have maintained an exceptional grade point average in college.
Advanced computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Experience in and demonstrated ability to use basic office equipment (telephone, fax, copier, etc.).
Organized, able to follow directions and meet all deadlines established.
Consistent, punctual and regular attendance. Must be available early June 2020 through early August 2020.
Minimum physical requirements: able to lift 40 pounds, travel around the ballpark including up/down steps.
Professional image and demeanor.
Strong ability to work well with co-workers and supervisors in a team environment.
As a condition of employment, the intern candidates must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Intern opportunities are project-oriented and based on current business needs, which vary from year-to-year. Previous interns have worked on projects in the following departments: Marketing, Community Relations, Sales, IT, Special Events, Corporate Partnerships, Accounting & Finance, Business Analytics and Ballpark Operations.
Is this a paid intern program?
All Padres intern opportunities are paid on an hourly basis.
How many hours do interns work during the program?
Interns can expect to work 40 hours per week, and should be prepared to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Do you have opportunities for MBA students?
We strongly encourage currently enrolled MBA students to apply for this program.
Do you offer school credit for your intern program?
Yes, students seeking school credit for their college or graduate program are encouraged to apply.
May I request to work in a specific department or area of the organization?
Yes, you may request an area of preference in your cover letter. However, final decisions on department placement are made by the Padres hiring team and interns may rotate between departments throughout the summer.
