This position is designed to provide individuals currently pursuing either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting (or related field) with assignments that further their knowledge of the tax function within a public accounting firm. Typically, incumbents will be in their senior year of college or in their final year of pursuing a more advanced degree. The primary responsibilities for this role are as follows:
Works on assigned tax returns under the direction of a team leader.
Monitors workload on a weekly basis to ensure work for the coming week.
Stays current on firm policies.
Monitors billable hours and compare to target billable hours on a regular basis.
Attends training sessions as required.
If applicable, prepare for and take the CPA examination at every available opportunity.
Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that customer confidentiality is assured.
Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the firm.
Performs other services as required
Skills, Education, and/or Experience Required:
Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Masters in related field from an accredited College or University.
Must have completed Intermediate Accounting II
Minimum GPA requirement is a 3.0
Must have effective and professional oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to work both independently and as part of a diverse team with professionals at all levels.
Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism including the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Must be computer literate with the capability of performing at an intermediate level with respect to the Microsoft Office Suite of products or similar software applications.
Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week with a preference of working 24 hours per week.
This position requires that the individual have a vehicle and be able to drive/commute to client locations. This position requires the incumbent to reach a client’s location/P&N Office in a timely manner and to be on site at client and/or P&N offices to perform job responsibilities.
Light to moderate levels of lifting, kneeling, bending, sitting and walking is required. Lifting requirements will not typically exceed 25 pounds.
