The Summer Internship at the Denver office of Lockton Companies offers junior-level college students an opportunity to develop and enhance critical business skills through hands-on work experience. The program will assist Interns in making long-term career choices in the field of insurance brokerage and consulting. By giving Interns the opportunity to work with successful Lockton associates, an insightful view of the industry and the opportunities available will be gained.
Internships generally begin in the first part of June and are temporary, full-time positions. Internships typically last 8 to 10 weeks, depending on Lockton’s needs. After a brief orientation, Interns will partner with a designated Lockton associate in each of several client service areas for a period of time, which provides an opportunity to experience various specialties within our organization.
Typical duties include:
Researching a prospect or current client online
Checking carrier rating worksheets
Processing policy endorsements/riders
Attending meetings and taking meeting notes
Assisting with report writing and presentation design
Attending educational training and orientation sessions
Students majoring in Business, Management, Finance, Risk Management & Insurance, or related field, who are in their junior year of their undergraduate program
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Ability to complete continuing education requirements as needed
Ability to attend company, department, and team meetings as required, including industry training sessions
Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of client and company information
Ability to efficiently organize work and manage time in order to meet deadlines
Ability to travel by automobile and aircraft
Ability to use office equipment such as a computer, keyboard, calculator, photocopier, and facsimile machine
Ability to work on a computer for a prolonged amount of time
Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed
Legally able to work in the United States
