Job Description



Through this internship program, candidates will learn how sales strategy is developed and executed for a boutique hotel brand. They will also gain insight into the relationship between a brand and the parent company and how to leverage the resources of the parent company while maintaining a unique brand identity. The Sales Operations + Strategy Intern will leverage their strategic skill set, learned through their college coursework, and apply it to real scenarios that impact the sales organization at Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants. Candidates will work with and learn from various team members across the organization, and he/she will also be responsible for individually owning and executing two major projects by the end of their internship. Projects will be assigned based on the interest and skill set of the candidate as well as the business needs of the organization during the duration of the internship.


The Sales Operations + Strategy Intern will partner with the sales team at our Corporate Offices (Home Office) in Washington, DC. Candidates will report to the Sales Operations Director but will work closely with the whole Home Office Sales Team that is led by the VP of Sales. Through their summer projects, candidates will get exposure to at least two or more of the following learning objectives:

Creation, maintenance and oversight of sales resources, processes and company-wide programs, initiatives, and events
Manage + strategize brand-wide new and focus accounts strategy
Develop training + onboarding process
Refine the pre-opening sales strategy process
Gather industry trends to share with Sales Leadership, RLTs and Commercial Team
Digest of Sales Monthly Report
Assist with technical aspects of IHG sales tools


Sophomore or Junior majoring in Hospitality, Business, or related field
Previous Hotel Experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
Inquisitive mind with creative flair
Entrepreneurial spirit
Go-getter mentality
