Key Role Details
This is a full-time paid internship program spanning ten weeks from June through August 2024.
Participation in the internship requires that you are located in the continental United States with in-person attendance at your assigned location, in accordance with Capital One‡s hybrid working model, for the duration of the program.
Interns will be evaluated for a full-time position with their team and will work with their manager on identifying a start date upon graduation
This is a paid internship. This is a limited-time internship position, and Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. However, a full-timeData Sciencerole, for which you may be considered upon completion of the internship (subject to business need, market conditions, and other factors) is eligible for employer immigration sponsorship.
Basic Qualifications
Currently pursuing a PhD with an expectation that degree will be obtained by August 2027 or earlier
Must be continuing in the same course of study of the most recent degree following completion of the internship
At least 1 year of experience or academic work using open source programming languages for data analysis
Direct experience with either Python, R or SQL
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or academic work in inferential statistics
Experience or academic work in machine learning
Experience or academic work with relational databases
Experience or academic work with large scale data analysis

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
San Francisco, California: (Hybrid On-Site):
$191,000 – $191,000 for Data Science PhD Intern
New York City: (Hybrid On-Site):
$181,000 – $181,000 for Data Science PhD Intern
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate‡s offer letter.
