Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company, Mid-Continent Business Unit is accepting online applications for the position of Field Specialist Intern & Trainee located in Central Permian, TX, for various different Field Operation Teams through November 1st 2023 at 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time).
This position requires the ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of artificial lift and process equipment/facilities used in day-to-day oil and gas operations.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Display an understanding of, and commitment to, Health, Environment, and Safety processes by carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices as described in the MCBU Safe Practice Manual
- Demonstrate the ability to learn Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain oil and gas production equipment
- Perform duties under guidance of a mentor associated with oil and gas producing operations; including but not limited to unconventional wells, gas lift, plunger lift, rod pumping and flowing wells, and compressors
- Learn the benefits of optimizing artificial lift systems
- Gain awareness of testing wells
- Record keeping and data input
- Learn the importance of computer control systems and SCADA monitoring
- Establish positive working relationships with other employees, and contractors to ensure that all equipment is operating at peak efficiency
- Assure all work performed adheres to Chevrons Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability and willingness to work weekends, and holidays of assigned work schedule as well as overtime as work schedule demands
- Must live within 50 miles of the workplace or be willing to relocate
- Must possess a valid drivers license. Company vehicle will not be available for personal commute to and from the workplace
- Ability to successfully complete a post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination, as well as pre-placement verification of the information and qualifications provided during the selection process
- General mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with others in a team setting
- Show strong initiative
- Ability to learn computer-based applications as per role responsibility
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates of Applied Science or higher degree or Military Occupation Specialist (MOS) in Petroleum,
- Process, Compression or Industrial Maintenance Technology or related technology discipline.
- Certificate in Petroleum, Process, Compression, Industrial Maintenance Technology,
- Diesel/Automotive Technology, or related technology discipline in lieu of an Associates of Applied Science degree or higher
- 1+ years current Chevron lease operations or 3+ years of related experience in the oil and gas production industry
- 1+ years current related experience in oil and gas production operations, or related petrochemical industries
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of production and facility separation and rotating equipment
- Ability to operate and maintain oil and gas producing wells; including but not limited to plunger lift, rod pumping and flowing wells, and associated compressors safely and effectively
- Familiar with pneumatic/electronic instrumentation
- Basic knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), SCADA remote monitoring and an aptitude for learning new software applications
- Capable of simultaneously performing multiple tasks with limited supervision
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers
- Ability to manage time effectively
