The Main Responsibilities
Lumen‡s Cybersecurity organization is looking for an Analyst Intern on our Corporate Security team. This team‡s focus is centered around the validation framework for our commercial and federal counterparts. The intern’s primary focus will be to support proposed/in-place contract review, security assessments and implementation of the Control Validation Framework anticipated for 2024. Interns can expect to assist with hands-on team projects and individual contributions. This is team works closely with commercial and federal customers, and industry standards (ISO, NIST, etc., and will allow interns to get exposure into risk compliance tools. You can expect mentorship and guidance on this team that will set up a foundation to launch a career in cybersecurity!

Other responsibilities of the intern will include:

  • Mapping controls within GRC framework
  • Perform or learn assessment in alignment with industry standards – ISO 27001 and NIST 800:53, etc.
  • Review customer contact security stipulations against proposed RFI and RFP
  • Deep your feet into other aspects of cybersecurity space
  • Other duties as assigned

What We Look For in a Candidate

•    Education Requirements 
o    Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior-level education status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2024 – June 2025.
o    Major/Degree: In pursuit of a degree in – CS, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, MIS, Computer Engineering

•    Proficiency and understanding of; 
o    Proficient with Microsoft Office
o    Data Analytics
o    BI Tools
o    Process Modeling and Analysis
o    Requirements Management
o    Agile methodologies
o    Systems Analytics
o    GRC and ServiceNow knowledge are a plus

•    Professional Attributes 
o    Enjoys collaboration and works well in a team environment
o    Strong drive for achieving results in remote style setting
o    Self-starter mentality
o    Unafraid to ask questions to find solutions
o    Thinks outside the box to challenge the norm
o    Strong written and verbal communication skills
o    Ability to multitask while working in fast paced environment
o    Comfortability in independent work and challenging project assignments
o    Project management skills

o Detailed-oriented – able to clearly and accurately express technical details in an understandable format
o    Eager to learn – Technology is constantly changing, and having the drive to learn new technology and apply it is essential to success
o    Team Player – You‡ll need to rely on other people to complete the project, and need to work well with others
o    Problem-Solver – you will need to be able to analyze a situation and make recommendations for resolutions, sometimes these answers are not obvious

•    Work Setting

o    This position will be fully remote/ work from home.
o    Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours per week during the 10-week program (June – August)

Compensation
Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual’s level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role.

Hourly Based Pay Range:

  • Min: $25.00/hour
  • Max:  $41.00/hour

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentives.
