Nature and Scope:
Perform specific engineering related assignments including calculations, curve plotting and data reduction using
established methods and under the explicit direction of an engineer in a higher classified position. Communicate
results of assignments clearly to technical audience.

Role Overview:

As an Engineering Design Intern, you’ll play a vital role in our turbomachinery design group. Your mission will be to transform inputs from various functional teams into cutting-edge designs for new and improved turbomachinery components. Our team is the cornerstone of the product development process, providing essential CAD models and drawings for analysis and manufacturing. You’ll have the opportunity to closely collaborate with experienced design leads who will mentor you and guide you towards becoming a proficient and independent contributor in due course.

This role is over the course of a year, up to 24 hours a week. 1-2 days a week in office, 1-2 remote work day(s), school schedule permitting.

Responsibilities to Include:

Create, interpret, and review engineering drawings, encompassing both 2D and 3D formats.
Support design leads with layouts to visually communicate novel design concepts and innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
Leverage Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) practices to achieve the desired form, fit, and function of components.
Validate Bill of Material (BOM) for sales orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Play a role in part disposition for defects identified during manufacturing and supply processes.
Collaborate with shop, testing, and field teams to swiftly address design-related issues and ensure seamless operations.

Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring precision and accuracy in your work.
Proficiency in CAD software, with experience in Creo being advantageous but not mandatory.
A hands-on approach to problem-solving and a natural inclination towards building and tinkering, even in your spare time.
Strong familiarity with the Microsoft Office 365 suite of programs, showcasing your ability to effectively utilize digital tools.
Exposure to coding, demonstrating your versatility and adaptability in diverse technical environments.

Compensation:

The hourly compensation for this role ranges from $22.30-$39.00. Actual compensation will be determined by graduation year and degree type.
