The Human Resources Internship will provide you with practical HR experience in a refinery setting and exposure to key facets of human resources.
Major Accountabilities:
Assists with the development, review and communication of various practices and policies.
Participates in HR communication initiatives and special projects.
Assists with the recruiting and onboarding process.
Assists with the development and distribution of quarterly reports to corporate and refinery management.
Researches employee complaints and provides recommendations to management for resolution.
Prepares routine and ad hoc reports as needed.
Assists with the coordination and administration of special events, such as company and/or site-wide recreational activities and employee recognition events.
Positions may be available at any of the following locations:Norco, LA – St. Charles Refinery
Port Arthur, TX – Port Arthur Refinery
Houston, TX – Houston Refinery
This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Human Resources or related business field required.
Overall GPA of 3.0 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred.
Obtained at least 60 credit hours by the start of internship required.
Graduation dates of August 2024 through May 2026 required.
Able to work 40 hours per week during the Summer required.

All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). It is Valero‡s policy that employees must wear this card at all times while working at the refinery.
Note: Valero‡s pre-employment process includes successful completion of a background check, hair analysis drug screen, and pre-employment physical (if applicable).
