Job Summary:

In this role, you will collaborate with other engineers to assess high speed propulsion system component and harsh environment sensor performance. To accomplish the given tasks, you must be familiar with compressible flow, thermodynamics, a scripting language such as MATLAB, python, or C++, data acquisition systems and applying engineering principles to analyze the integrity and/or performance of the designed components. Communication and documentation are critical as you will often need to prepare slides (or other documents) to present to the team, whether it is to describe modeling efforts or to discuss project progress.

Qualifications

Working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) related field at the college or university level
Basic to intermediate programming language (MATLAB, Python, C++, etc.) skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel analysis tools
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and track processes through to completion.
An active participant on a team or in a collaborative environment
Knowledge / skills of Microsoft Office Suite
Strong organizational skills
Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to clearly communicate research findings through presentations and reports
Valid Driver‡s License / US Citizenship
Daily Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Analyze and interpret both experimental and computational data produced in high-speed propulsion, harsh environment sensor and energy research programs
Assist in development of procedures and test plans for the correlation/validation of analytical models
Assist in using and creating analytical tools to process experimental data or construct models
Perform scientific literature research to assist in knowledge gathering and project decisions
Documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical presentations of engineering solutions to cross-functional teams, management and customers
Communicate results and progress to engineer team members and staff
Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
Participate in brainstorming sessions to create new ideas
Report progress directly to Engineering Supervisor or Engineer Lead
Perform other duties and cross training as assigned
Benefits

Pay rates for this position begin at $20/hour and increase for each undergraduate year completed. Relocation support and housing assistance is available for those who relocate to a new city.

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
