What to Expect 

Disclaimer: This position is expected to start around January 2024 and continue through the entire Spring term (i.e. through March 2024) or into Summer 2024 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, for most internships. Please consider before submitting an application

Tesla is seeking an intern to work directly for the Service Engineering Team. This intern must be passionate about the product, a strong critical thinker, and capable of understanding technical system-level architecture and issues.

Service Engineering, part of Vehicle Software Engineering, is responsible for real-time diagnostic support for the service network (the field), development and improvement of diagnostic tools and procedures, and feedback of top field issues to our development teams to improve current and future products.
What You‡ll DoImproving the customer experience through reducing failure rates by feeding back real-world usage and failure data to design/quality/manufacturing/firmware teams to continually improve our drivetrains
Providing engineering level technical support on drivetrains to allow understanding of local market conditions, customer expectations, and product usage and failures
Test development software or mechanical changes on our engineering cars
Support escalations from field technical teams to help them fix specific and often difficult to diagnose issues
Develop procedures, tools, methods to properly diagnose and repair vehicle drivetrains
Occasional required travel within the field for hands on testing and data collection
What You‡ll BringStudying a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, ect
Good understanding of electric systems such as sensors, actuators, control units and communication networks such as CAN bus
Experience with EV drivetrain technologies
Experience with data acquisition and analysis and processing tools, including one or more programming or scripting languages
Experience in reading C and phyton language – basic C and python programming
Knowledge of digital communication and protocols using CAN and Ethernet, and SAE J2411

Expected Compensation

$20.00 – $50.00 + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
