Position Overview:

This Software Engineer Internship position is within the Avionics Airborne Information Solutions Data Link Products team. The airborne communications management system provides a mobile data link service through various subnetworks between the aircraft and the airline ground facilities and/or air traffic controllers. The Data Link software team creates the airborne software providing methods to manage the receipt of uplink messages, generation of downlink messages, and the development of the on-board applications for the processing of messages.

This candidate will design and develop embedded software primarily in the C++ language and also develop on-board Datalink products display pages using GUI based design tools, along with the associated logic to animate the pages on the flight deck and cabin displays. Development will be for current generation products and the next generation product line following the Rockwell Collins Technical Consistent Process. As a Data Link team member you would be responsible for all aspects of a project life-cycle. This role will be ONSITE in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Primary Responsibilities:

Work with a team focused on avionic connectivity products
Learn to experience life cycles of both systems and software engineering relating to connectivity products
Gain experience in software level integration and testing
Work on a collaborative team on commercial facing avionics products
Basic Qualifications:

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
