Job Description
Intelligent Systems Research (ISR) Lab within Intel Labs focuses on multi-disciplinary research spanning AI, HCI and design to create Human-AI collaborative systems that can amplify human potential and create sustainable and transparent AI solutions. We utilize multi-modal signals (e.g. vision, audio, speech, language , etc.) and AI to understand, infer and predict human states and actions. Based on our R&D capabilities we enable contextual learning for physically situated recognition, dialog, and interactions for unprecedented Human-AI collaboration. We conduct fundamental and applied research in manufacturing, education, enterprise, and assistive computing.

We are looking for a Research Scientist Intern to support a Robot-based High-precision Mapping through LiDAR project. The project will be utilized to facilitate the usage of point clouds in an indoor navigation platform for people with visual impairments.

This is an internship position and compensation will be given accordingly.

Qualifications

The candidate must be pursuing PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering with hands on experience and solid R&D skills..

1+ years‡ experience in below areas:

Python3 Numpy and PyTorch, Application of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for image and spatial data
Development experience in LINUX, Ubuntu 20 LTS Toolchain Software Engineering tools GIT, etc.
Linear Algebra, signal processing/Computer Vision 2D, 3D including point cloud processing, graph theory, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:

Direct and Inverse Robot Kinematics
Advanced C++ 11, Templates, Efficient Implementations and Data structures, Clear Coding, System Profiling and Optimization for Signal processing
3D modeling
LIDAR processing and algorithm development
Robotic Planning and Control
Real-time Processing and Visualization
RPC, Distributed systems
Candidate has Master‡s degree in related areas and is currently in the 2-3 year of PhD program preferred
