The Job You Will Perform:
Work with a team of data analysts at IP‡s new Advanced Analytic Center in Atlanta, GA
Assist with Mill of the Future applications and implementation projects
Perform variety of data analysis projects using statistical techniques for both the enterprise and for individual facilities and/or departments
Create dashboards to provide visual reports for end users
Develop and implement databases and data collection systems
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
Conduct multivariate analyses
Identify and define process improvement opportunities for the mill system and other groups
Configure, implement, and operationalize advanced analytics tools for industrial manufacturing processes. Such tools include, for example, Aveva OSISoft PI Vision & PI Asset Framework, Braincube, MATLAB, Minitab, Salford Tree-net, and SIMCA multivariate analytics.
Integration of data from various sources such as PI historian, GE Plant Applications (Proficy) database, and SAP.
Collaborate with a variety of internal stakeholders including mill process engineers, Manufacturing Excellence Managers, Business Unit Managers, Area Process Managers, and Technology Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand the context and the business need to maintain the quality of our products, improve the reliability of our plants, improve productivity, and lower production costs.
Build pro-active and constructive relationships with manufacturing sites and with Technology subject matter experts (SMEs). Excellence in customer service is expected.
Model the manufacturing process using advanced statistical methods to minimize manufacturing cost via cost modeling of goods, people, and equipment (continuous improvement analytics)
The Skills You Will Bring:
Pursuing college degree (B.S.) in Engineering (esp. Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering); Data Analytics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or similar majors. Paper Science related curriculums preferred.
Passion/certification in analytics
Focus on creativity, dealing with ambiguity, technical skills
Internship or co-op in a paper mill or similar industrial manufacturing facility is desirable.
Exposure to Lean/Six Sigma principles is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to spot trends and patterns
Able to learn on the fly, adapt in a highly dynamic environment, and effectively cope with and manage change
Highly motivated, self-starter, results-driven individual who can also perform well in a team setting
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, including active listening
Cumulative GPA 2.8
Familiarity with analytic, machine learning, and visualization tools such as Power BI, Matlab, Minitab, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Advanced Pattern Recognition (APR), PI Data Archive Tools, GE Proficy, etc…Open to relocation now and in the future
Must have access to reliable transportation
